Gtwy Fund Recipient (January 2021): The Gateway Fund supports emerging BIPOC artists, designers, activists, and public intellectuals living and working in Iowa, via the distribution of micro-grants. It is part of an ongoing series of public art projects intending to build connections, foster social engagement, and stimulate discourse on what constitutes creative practice.
Hill - Quinn Legacy Grant Recipient (February 2021): The Supply Hive is a non-profit organization that promotes physical, mental, and spiritual health while emphasizing sustainability in caring for the earth, ourselves, and within the movement for social justice. Co-founders Zakariyah & Liyah created the grant to fund Black visionaries, activists, and community builders in order to aid them as they work to build and foster the communities around them.
Awards
YWCA Women of Achievement Award - Community Activist (March 2021): Each March the YWCA Ames at ISU awards several deserving women in the Story County and ISU communities who are living out the Y's mission - eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
Ivy College of Business Mystery Award for Business Pitch (July 2021): Five CYstarter businesses were presented with $1,000 awards by mystery judges on behalf of the Ivy College of Business at an event celebrating their completion of the 11-week program. The CYstarters program provides the opportunity for selected businesses to spend their summer dedicated to achieving their startup goals and pursuing entrepreneurial aspirations.
